A Geneva man could face years behind bars after being convicted on drug charges in Ontario County.

Prosecutors say 41-year-old Yokohiro Vidal-Ortiz was found guilty in Ontario County Court of possessing cocaine with the intent to sell and illegally possessing oxycodone. The charges stem from a March 2025 traffic stop by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office at the intersection of Parkside Drive and Fire Hall Road in Canandaigua, where deputies say they discovered a large quantity of drugs inside the vehicle.

Vidal-Ortiz faces between six and 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on April 15.

A second defendant, Abdiel Velez-Sotomayor, has already pleaded guilty and is scheduled for sentencing on April 1.
