Geneva Man Charged With Vehicular Assault After Hitting Person With Car

A 48-year-old man who was struck by a car in the city of Geneva is listed in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Police say the accident happened just after 2 Sunday a.m. in the area of Exchange and Lewis Streets. The driver of the car, 26-year-old Zachary Doerr of Geneva, was charged with felony vehicular assault. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated after it was determined that his blood alcohol content was .17 percent.

Doerr was also ticketed for speeding, and for having an open container of alcohol in a car.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
