An inmate at Five Points Correctional Facility has pleaded guilty to threatening Governor Kathy Hochul’s family.

27-year-old Scott Bushey admitted in Seneca County Court to sending a letter last September demanding the release of another inmate and threatening harm to the governor’s family.

Bushey, already serving 3 to 9 years for failing to register as a sex offender, will serve an additional five-year prison sentence after completing his current term. The Finger Lakes Times reports Bushey will be sentenced on March 2.

Authorities say Bushey also faces a separate pending charge in Clinton County for intimidating a witness in an unrelated case.
