Fatal Two-Car Crash Under Investigation in Sodus

A two-car crash on State Route 104 in Sodus has left one man dead and another hospitalized.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the collision happened Friday morning, east of the Route 14 intersection. A preliminary investigation found that an eastbound vehicle driven by 77-year-old Claude Krieger of Red Creek crossed into the westbound lane and struck another vehicle head-on. First responders pronounced Krieger dead at the scene.

The driver of the other car, 70-year-old Philip Adamy of Hannibal, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with a head injury.

Members of the sheriff’s office Accident Reconstruction Unit and Investigations Division responded to examine the crash. The cause remains under investigation.

Several agencies assisted at the scene, including the New York State Police, Wallington Fire Department, Alton Fire Department, Sodus Center Fire Department, North Rose Fire Department, and Wayne County EMS.
