The new Seneca Falls Draft Comprehensive Plan calls on the town to recognize the Cayuga Indian Nation’s right to elect its own leaders, and to purchase property to place into a federal trust.
The draft plan includes 5-pages devoted to relations between the town and the Cayuga Nation.
The Cayuga Nation has 101 acres in Union Springs placed into a federal trust. No Seneca County property has yet been placed into a federal trust.
The Cayuga Nation has purchased 1,200 acres from willing sellers since 2005.
