Cause of Palmyra House Fire Under Investigation

Firefighters battle a house fire in Newark, NY, with flames visible on the roof and heavy smoke billowing.

A structure fire that occurred early Saturday morning in the Town of Palmyra remains under investigation.

All occupants of the single-family home at 4385 State Route 31 were able to evacuate safely, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, which remains ongoing.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by firefighters from the Port Gibson, Palmyra, East Palmyra, Newark, Manchester, and Clifton Springs Fire Departments.

Officials are urging anyone with information about the fire to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
