Canandaigua Man Charged After Dog Bites Officer

Police Blotter

Police in Canandaigua say a loose dog call led to an officer being bitten and a local man facing a charge.

Officers with the Canandaigua Police Department were sent to the Saltonstall Street area on Friday after reports of a dog running at large. While trying to secure the animal, one officer was bitten on the hand.

After looking into the situation, police arrested 59-year-old Richard Saxby of Canandaigua.

He was charged with permitting a dog to run at large, processed at the scene, and released with an appearance ticket. Saxby is due back in City of Canandaigua Court at a later date to answer the charge.
