Arcadia Crash Sends 3 to Hospital

Three people were taken to the hospital following a Wednesday evening car crash in Wayne County.

According to the sheriff’s office, Shawn Long and his passenger, Terry Edwards, were travelling east on State Route 31 in the village of Arcadia just after 5:00p when they attempted to turn onto County House Road. The vehicle behind them, being driven by Catherine Cocola, failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the turning vehicle.

The 60-year-old Long and 64-year-old Cocols were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries while The 41-year-old Edwards was taken to Newark-Wayne Hospital for evaluation.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Newark-Arcadia Volunteer Ambulance, Newark Fire Department, and Wayne County EMS
