Another Deal Today To End the Prison Officers Strike

New York correction officers are set to return to work today following a new agreement with the state’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The deal requires at least 85% of staff to report back before it takes effect. The wildcat strike began on Feb. 17th.

The agreement ensures reinstated health insurance, no further disciplinary actions, and a safety committee addressing the HALT Act’s impact. However, those who continue striking could face legal consequences.

The terms were laid out in a five-page public agreement, and a deadline of this morning at 6:45 AM for corrections officers to return to work, but not all are satisfied with the terms.
