Its time for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.  In the Finger Lakes the event is being held Saturday at the Geneva’s Lakefront Park where they hope to raise $85,000 to fight cancer.  So far just over $71,000 dollars has been pledged for the event

At Relay For Life community members take turns walking around a track lined with luminaria bags. You’ll have the opportunity to cheer for local survivors in our first lap of the day. Caregivers of cancer patients will then be invited to join the survivors.  As it gets dark, the luminaria bags surrounding the track provide a memorable luminary ceremony.

The American Cancer Society is a volunteer driven, staff supported 501C-3 non-profit organization with the mission statement to “Save Lives, Celebrate Lives & Lead the Fight for a World Without Cancer.” With over 1.5 million volunteers nationwide, the ACS attacks cancer from every angle through cancer research, education, advocacy and family services
