United Way of Cayuga County is extending its annual Personal Care Drive.

Earlier this week, United Way volunteers collected 2,400 items from drop-off sites throughout the county and sorted items to be distributed to 19 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in Cayuga County. The sites receiving donations are: the Auburn Rescue Mission, Brutus-Sennet Food Pantry, Calvary Food Pantry, CAP Cayuga / Seneca Pantry, CAP Domestic Violence Shelter, Cato Christian Food Pantry, Cayuga Community College Food Pantry, Chapel House Shelter, Fair Haven Community Church Food Cupboard, King Ferry Food Pantry, Moravia Hope Food Pantry, Port Byron Community Food Pantry, Safe & Warm (program of Harriet Tubman Liberation Foundation), SS Peter & John Episcopal Soup Kitchen, St. Alphonsus Food Pantry, The Salvation Army, Throopsville Community Church Food Pantry, and Western Cayuga County Emergency Food Pantry

When the campaign began in August, United Way set a goal of collecting 3,000 items. To achieve this, the group has announced it has extended its eighth annual drive through October 31. Items collected now through the end of the month will be sent to the Auburn Rescue Mission, Harriet Tubman Liberation Foundation’s Safe & Warm program, SS Peter & John Episcopal Soup Kitchen, and The Salvation Army.

United Way is seeking the following items: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, dental floss, deodorant, razors, laundry detergent, body wash, hand soap, sanitary napkins, tampons, toilet paper, diapers, dish soap, and facial tissues.

Items can be dropped off at United Way’s office at 2 State St, Auburn, throughout the drive. Items can also be dropped off at the group’s Annual Membership Meeting at Owen Orchards on Wednesday.
