Southern Cayuga parents and students can now provide feedback on the no cell phone policy coming into effect across New York this fall.

The “distraction-free schools” policy will go into effect when the school year begins in the fall. It will prevent students in K-12 from using personal internet-enabled devices, such as smartphones, from the beginning to the end of the school day. This includes lunch, recess, and study hall.

While the district is unable to change the state-mandated policy, it is able to shape how it’s applied within the district. To this end, the district has launched a survey, allowing parents, caregivers, and students to share their thoughts and ideas related to the policy and ask any questions they may have.

The survey closes on Monday. To complete the survey, click here.
