More harmful algal blooms have been spotted on Owasco Lake.

According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s HAB map, blooms have been spotted throughout the lake. Current blooms are primarily present on the east side of Owasco Lake; however, a bloom was reported Monday north of Casowasco.

Altogether, 16 new HABs have been reported on the lake in the past week.

Harmful Algal Blooms tend to increase in late summer and the fall.
