A Jefferson County man faces jail time after admitting to scheming a Cayuga County resident out of $6,000.

In September of 2021, Ryan Clement of Carthage received money from a Moravia resident as part of a contract to build a shed. Police say the 40-year-old had no intention of building the structure and was charged with grand larceny after he failed to start the construction or refund the victim.

Clement, who has been convicted of similar crimes throughout the state, will be sentenced in Cayuga County Jail at the end of June.
