One man has been convicted of assaulting two officers at Auburn Correctional Facility.
The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office reports Yakez Cornett pled guilty to two counts of assault this month. Cornett admitted to assaulting two corrections officers on August 14, 2023, in the south yard of the prison. Both officers had to go to the emergency room for treatment.
When sentenced in April, Cornett faces five years for each count plus an additional five years post-release supervision. This new sentence will run consecutively with his current sentence.
