Cayuga County residents have another opportunity to help victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The Union Springs Girls Basketball and Palooza Basketball programs are holding a Stuff the Truck campaign to collect items for those affected by the two hurricanes. The goal is to fill a 53′ tractor trailer donated by Averdi with items to be sent to victims.

Donations can be dropped off at the Union Springs Fire Department’s side pavilion from 5:00-7:00p on Thursday, 8:00a-12:00p on Saturday, and 3:00-6:00p on Sunday.

Items needed include but are not limited to:

Urgently Needed: blankets, winter outdoor clothes, and dog and cat food

Household Items: flashlights, batteries, charcoal, 1 lb propane tanks, candles, empty gas cans, trash bags, gloves (work and medical), wipes, cleaning supplies, zip lock bags, cat litter, bedding, and pillows

Personal Items: shampoo, body wash, soap, deodorant, basic medicine (ibuprofen), and feminine products

Food Items: Bread, packaged snacks, peanut butter cereal, non-perishable food items.

All items should be new and unused. Additionally, those wishing to make monetary donations can do so via Venmo @paloozabasketball. All monetary donations will be used locally to purchase needed items.

In late September, Hurricane Helene devastated the southeastern United States. Less than two weeks later, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida.
