Council to Vote on Housing Standards Changes

Auburn City Council will vote on changes to its housing standards code next Thursday.

Speaking on FLX Morning, City Clerk Chuck Mason explained the purpose of the changes.

“It provides a process in which the nuisance abatement committee can hear from any individuals that feel as though they’ve been aggrieved through the housing code inspection process,” Mason said. “They would be able to apply through the city manager’s office to go before the nuisance abatement committee and have their case be heard.”

A second public hearing held on the matter was held last Thursday; however, no one spoke at it.

If passed, the law would become effective roughly 30 days later after being filed with the New York Secretary of State.
