After County Clerk Brian Scanlan resigned last week, the Cayuga County Republican Committee endorsed Kristine Lytle for the position in anticipation of a special election.
Lytle, a DMV employee, previously ran as a Conservative candidate in 2023.
Even with Scanlan’s resignation, the Cayuga County Clerk’s Office remains open as the county discusses an interim plan for the administration of the office “until such time as the Governor appoints a temporary Clerk.”
