With Christmas over, Cayuga County residents can once again recycle their Christmas trees.

The Cayuga County Soil and Water Conservation District, the planning and economic development department, and Cornell Cooperative Extension are teaming up to hold their annual Trade a Tree program. People who drop off their old Christmas trees at the Natural Resource Center (7413 County House Road) will receive a certificate for a tree seedling that can be redeemed at the annual spring tree and shrub sale.

Recycled trees will be mulched for use on county projects.

Trees can be dropped off on the following dates:

  • 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30
  •  8 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Dec. 31
  • 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Jan. 2 and 3
