The Cayuga County Health Department has completed a comprehensive Community Health Assessment aimed at identifying key health needs, risks, and priorities across the county.
The assessment is part of a six-year requirement from the New York State Department of Health, which mandates local health departments to evaluate community health conditions and develop long-term improvement strategies.
According to county health officials, the assessment process included a community-wide survey that drew nearly 1,000 responses from residents. Data from existing local initiatives was also analyzed, along with regional and national health sources, to create an evidence-based understanding of public health conditions in Cayuga County.
The data collection and analysis were supported through partnerships with community-based organizations and local healthcare systems, officials said.
Health officials say the results will guide the county’s upcoming Community Health Improvement Plan, which will outline priorities and programs aimed at improving access to care, strengthening prevention efforts, and addressing long-term health challenges.
