You’re invited to a birthday party on Sunday, but it’s not your typical celebration.

The Summerhill Historian’s Office and the Cayuga-Owasco Lakes Historical Society are celebrating the belated birthday of Millard Fillmore, the 13th president of the United States. There will be cake and ice cream starting at 2:00p at the Summerhill Town Hall (13606 NY-90, Locke) as well as a historical display showcasing his ties to the area.

A celebration was originally planned for his January 7 birthday; however, the celebrations were postponed due to the adverse weather.

Fillmore was born on January 7, 1800 in Summerhill. A replica of his childhood log cabin has been erected at the park bearing his name in Moravia – Fillmore Glen.

To date, five presidents hail from the Empire State – Martin Van Buren, Millard Fillmore, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and Donald Trump.
