Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County will once again conduct tractor safety certification classes for youth.

Legally, 14-16-year-olds must have at least 24 hours of tractor safety and maintenance instruction in order to operate a tractor on any farm not owned by their parents.

Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Youth Development program will hold the classes on Thursdays beginning February 26, with the final class scheduled for April 23. Classes will run from 6:00-9:00p.

Pre-registration is required. The registration deadline is February 19, and there is a $45 fee to register. For registration information, contact Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cayuga County at 315-255-1183.

Youth are required to pass both a written and a practical exam to be certified.
