United Way of Cayuga County’s Personal Care Drive is in the home stretch.

Speaking on FLX Morning, Julisa Stone with the organization said many people take basic hygiene items such as soap and tissues for granted.

“Hygiene items, they’re not covered by those assistance programs and they’re expensive,” Stone said. “They’re kind of seen like a luxury item by those who can’t afford them.”

nOW IN ITS SIXTH YEAR, United Way has a goal of collecting 5,000 items to be dispersed throughout Cayuga County.

The countywide personal care drive ends on October 10. A list of items needed and donation dropoff points can be found on United Way’s website.
