The Aurelius man accused of stabbing a Cayuga County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2020 has been acquitted of attempted murder and assault charges but found guilty of assaulting a police officer.
According to District Attorney Brittany Grome-Antonocci, Luke Gaffney faces 10-30 years in prison after being found guilty on Monday of assaulting a Cayuga County sheriff’s deputy three years ago. In October of 2020, Gaffney stabbed a sheriff’s deputy who attempted to force entry into Gaffney’s home to seize his firearms.
Gaffney’s legal team plans to appeal the verdict.
He is set to be sentenced in June.
