Over 300 animals have been rescued by the Auburn SPCA.

The Finger Lakes SPCA of CNY reports that its humane law enforcement team seized five dogs, five snakes, six rabbits, and approximately 160 domestic rats, 150 domestic mice, and 32 hamsters last Friday. The SPCA is currently seeking help from local and state shelters to take some of the animals into their care.

Due to the large influx of animals to its care, the SPCA is also in urgent need of several care items and is asking the public for support. The nonprofit is in need of towels, small blankets, and empty boxes, such as those used for pasta and cereal. Those wishing to donate are asked to leave donations inside the bottle and can shed or at the front door of the 41 York Street facility.

The shelter added that, beginning Thursday, it will have limited hours as staff and volunteers care for these animals. Hours of operation will be as follows:

Thursday, February 26th OPEN 1pm – 2pm
Friday, February 27th OPEN 1pm – 3pm
Saturday, February 28th OPEN 1pm – 3pm
Sunday, March 1st OPEN 1pm – 2pm
