Auburn Nonprofit Seeks Community Help as Need for Services Increases

An Auburn nonprofit is seeking community support as the increased need for its services has left it low on certain items.

Safe & Warm is a nonprofit that hosts a drop-in center at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Auburn every Friday from 3:00-5:00p. People in need can receive meals and personal hygiene items. Additionally, volunteers travel to hotels and motels to provide products to those being housed by the Department of Social Services and CAP.

Ashley Teucke is a member of Safe & Warm’s board of executive directors. She told Finger Lakes Daily News that, due to an increased need within the community, Safe & Warm is running low on several hygiene items, namely toothpaste, menstrual pads, deodorant, shampoo, and lotion. The group is seeking the community’s help to refill its stock of these critically needed items, along with other general hygiene items.

Anyone wishing to donate hygiene items can drop them off at the 17 William St church, Monday through Friday from 9:00a-2:00p. Anyone wishing to donate outside of these hours is asked to contact Teucke at [email protected] to coordinate.

Teucke is also hoping local businesses or organizations will host personal hygiene item drives to support Safe & Warm’s mission. Any interested business or organization is asked to contact Teucke to coordinate.
