An Auburn man has been found guilty of forcible sexual assault.

Cayuga County District Attorney Brittany Grome Antonacci announced Thursday that a jury found 49-year-old Gerald Hoffman guilty of Sexual Abuse and Attempted rape as violent felonies for the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl on September 13, 2023.

DA Antonacci commented: “We are pleased with the jury’s verdict and commend them for the time and consideration they gave listening to the evidence throughout the trial. I hope that this conviction provides the victim with justice and allows her to continue to heal. I understand that it takes a great deal of strength to come forward. I applaud her for her bravery in testifying against her abuser. I also commend the Auburn Police Department for their excellent work on this case.”

The jury began deliberation at 10:00a and reached a verdict at 2:37p.

Hoffman is scheduled for sentencing on August 15.

The trial was handled by Senior Assistant DA Heather De Stefano with the assistance of ADA Amandal Casselman.
