Auburn Hosting 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at City Hall

Auburn residents are once again invited to attend the annual ceremony commemorating the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Mayor Jimmy Giannettino asks attendees to arrive at the south lawn of Memorial City Hall by 8:40a on Wednesday.

Following the tolling of the Old Wheeler Bell at 8:46a, a representative from the Auburn Fire and Police Departments will place a wreath at the 9/11 memorial on the south lawn.

The bell will then toll at the following times:

  • 9:03a: when United Airlines Flight 175 was crashed by hijackers into the South Tower of the World Trade Center
  • 9:37a: when America Airlines  Flight 77 was crashed into the Pentagon
  • 9:59a: when the South Tower collapsed
  • 10:03a: when United Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, PA.
  • 10:28a: when the North Tower collapsed.
