Auburn Community Hospital is being cautious after a Legionella test has found elevated levels of the bacteria in its water.
The test was taken on Friday and more tests have been taken since, however those results aren’t expected back for at least a week.
The hospital will provide bottled water to patients and staff, flush its water system daily, not allow showers until special filters are installed, and monitor patients.
Legionella is the bacteria responsible for Legionnaire’s Disease, a serious form of pneumonia, that is contracted by water containing Legionella getting into the lungs.
