Cayuga County’s Primary Data Center could soon move to the Auburn Fire Station.

City Council will vote tomorrow to approve a resolution authorizing the county to lease 160 sq ft of space at Fire Station Number 1 to relocate the data center at an annual cost of $2,480. The lease is valid for five years.

The resolution states “the County is in need of uninterrupted access to the datacenter to ensure reliable service delivery to residents, business continuity for County departments, and the protection of sensitive information and public data,” necessitating a new suitable location for the center.

Since the closure of the Cayuga County Office Building, departments have been shuffled around various locations.
