Two in Serious Condition After Head-On Crash in Cayuga County

Law enforcement is investigating a head-on collision that occurred in Cayuga County Thursday evening.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Route 90 near Creek Road in Genoa around 5:30p. A westbound vehicle on Rt 90 went off the roadway. It then got back on the roadway and moved into oncoming traffic, resulting in the collision.

The driver of the second vehicle was taken to Upstate University Hospital while the driver of the first was airlifted via LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital. Both drivers remain hospitalized with serious injuries. There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

Also at the scene were the King Ferry Fire Department, Genoa Fire Department, Locke Fire Department, Southern Cayuga Ambulance, Cayuga County Office of Emergency Services, New York State Police, and New York State DOT

As the cause of the crash is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office is asking anyone who may have information relating to the incident to contact Detective David Harkness at 315-294-8143. Information can also be shared via the office’s website.
