Community Bank’s Waterloo branch recently helped kick off the 2023 Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) as part of an Olympic-style torch relay across New York state.

“It’s been an honor to participate in the torch relay for the ESWG,” Community Bank Waterloo Branch Manager Alexis Hobart said. “It’s an opportunity for Community Bank to support the initiatives and events in the local communities we work and live in and celebrate the athleticism and spirit of the games. We wish every participant the best of luck. Let the games begin!”

The torch relay took two routes across the state, starting from New York City and Buffalo and finishing in Lake Placid. Waterloo was one of 12 participating Community Bank branches to take part in the relay. The other branch stops were Gowanda, Orchard Park, Oneida, Cazenovia, Potsdam, Lake Placid, Ticonderoga, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Kinderhook and Valatie.

The 2023 Empire State Winter Games are set to take place Feb. 2-5 in Lake Placid and more than 5,000 athletes from all ages are expected to participate. Community Bank has been the title sponsor of the Empire State Winter Games since 2017.
